Everything changed when I learned to honour my body instead of fighting it. When I learned to take care of it, like a precious castle to protect this weary heart. To stop harming it, punishing it for looking like this or that, feeling like this or that. I don't look like they all told me I had to do, but I'm healthy and strong and vital. That is enough. About This Quote

Most of us know that we should be taking care of our bodies. However, we many times find ourselves attacking our bodies and trying to fight it. We do things that hurt or damage our bodies without giving it the care and attention it deserves. We treat our bodies like something to be ashamed of and something we feel we cannot control. I used to be obsessed with my weight and spent hours every day thinking about food and trying to restrict or control my weight.

I was sad, depressed, and felt fat all the time. I tried every diet known to man trying to lose weight, but none of them worked for me. I was at my worst when I tried to exercise more in order to lose weight when I discovered yoga. As soon as I realized how very wrong it was for me not to pay attention to my body, everything changed.

My body became a place where I could learn about myself in a safe way. It is not something that can be controlled or abused by anyone else, but it is a place I can grow into in the safety of my own body. When I learned not to worry about my body or how it looked, all of the panic went away. All of the fear was replaced with love and respect for myself so that I could finally look in the mirror without feeling shame or hatred toward myself.
